Tenuta Fanti Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Vigna Le Macchiarelle 2012

Montalcino, Siena, Tuscany, ItalyThe Tenuta Fanti estate has belonged to the Fanti family since the beginning of the eighteenth century. It extends across 300 hectares, 52ha of which are certified sustainable vineyards. This Riserva comes from Le Macchiarelle, a 2.5 hectare, 35-year-old vineyard in the heart of the Fanti estate, at an altitude of 250m, southward exposed, and planted to 3000 vines per hectare. The sandy soil is rich in galestro (marl), and this wine was fermented for 30-35 days in stainless before aging 36 months in 500L French oak tonneaux. The wine then aged in bottle for two years prior to release. Pouring with the slightest orange hue, reflective of age, this is layered with alluring mineral salts, dried tobacco, supple worn leather, dried morello cherry on the long, generous, finessed palate. Drinking beautifully now, as intended, but will continue to hold in your cellar.Tasted: 19 December 2019Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
