Natte Valleij Axle Chenin Blanc 2018
Darling, Coastal Region, South AfricaFrom winemaker Alex Milner, best known for his terroir series on cinsault, this comes from a 1985 planted block in Darling, was native fermented, and then spent nine months in neutral oak. White fruits, green apple are interwoven with meadow herbs, hay, and light pear skin spicing on a subtly waxen palate. There's a lovely weight and mouthfeel here, especially considering its slight 12 degrees alcohol (a benefit of ocean-breezed Darling).
