Fanti Brunello di Montalcino Vallocchio 2013

Montalcino, Siena, Tuscany, ItalyThe Tenuta Fanti estate has belonged to the Fanti family since the beginning of the eighteenth century. It extends across 300 hectares, 52ha of which certified sustainable vineyards. This comes from four south-east facing plots of 20-30-year-old vines (Vigna Bellavista, Vigna Sassone, Vigna Casabandi, and Vigna Macchiarelle Nuova) in the heart of the Fanti estate, historically known as Vallocchio. After a ferment in stainless, this aged 30 months in wood, 50% in 500L tonneaux, and the rest in big oak barrels of 30hl. When bottled, this remains an extra year before release. Dark, brooding cherry, graphite, inky balsamic, worn leather, and earthy spices shade the fuller, supple palate, housed by tannins that have thankfully worn through most of their wood with time in bottle. Drinking well now, especially with long braises or slow roasts.Tasted: 19 December 2019Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
