Tiberio Cerasuolo d'Abruzzo 2018

Abruzzo, ItalyCerasuolo d'Abruzzo is a relatively recent DOC in central Italy's Abruzzo, and is a category named for the light and graceful cherry-like colour of these wines (cerasuolo means cherry in Italian). Take this as a cross between a rosé and a very light red, with the 50+ year old montepulciano d’Abruzzo grapes being allowed to shine. The single block of heritage massale clones rest at 350m on limestone soils. After a destem, this sees only 20 minutes of skin contact before the free run juice is fermented in stainless. Fresh, bright, and aglow with rhubarb, cranberry tart, pink grapefruit, dried rosemary and a wash of mineral salts. There's a whisper of tannins that gently house this charming, bone dry, savoury wine to the finish. So in balance, this lifted wine belies its 14 degrees. Fantastic solo sipping as it is with food; take as intended, with a slight chill.Tasted: 06 November 2019Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
