Moon Curser Border Vines 2017

Osoyoos, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThis flagship wine from Moon Curser is true to their house style: potent, expressive, not overdone, but nice and pure. Intoxicating aromas of crushed summer berries, dried salted plums, mole, and exotic spices are tinged with herbs, citrus oil, and a pretty floral lift. Oak shows too with sweet vanilla and coconut aromas and flavours. Mouthfilling, with black currant, plums, and bitter chocolate with savoury dusty tannins and enhanced acidity. Lavish spicy and smoky oak guilds the fruit and the finish is a little tight now, but will extend with another year or so. Cabernet sauvignon provides the framework (71% in the 2017 vintage) with upholstery from 16% petit verdot, 7% malbec, 4% carmenere, and 2% cab franc, all burnished in French oak casks, just 20% new. Give plenty of air and definately serve with a charred cut of something meaty. You'll find plenty of fruit for enjoying now, but another two years of bottle age will allow the East Bench Osoyoos terroir character to present fully.Tasted: 06 November 2019Tasted by: DJ KearneyPrices:
