Dark Horse Vineyard Cabernet Franc 2016

Golden Mile Bench, Oliver, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThe Golden Mile Bench with its vast alluvial fans is the source of this Dark Horse Vineyard cabernet franc. Site shows through the warm, high spirited nature of sweet, ripe fruit imbued with luxurious oak in this ambitions re-imagining of Inniskillin's pedigreed vineyard. Plummy aromas repeat in the flavours which are dark and dense, velvety, creamy, and spicy. Tannins feel soft and smooth, propping the wine up guite nicely, while balancing acidity refreshes from within. There's enough lovely Okanagan savoury herbs to keep things interesting, and while the oak is substantial, the dense fruit can handle it. One for a few years of bottle ageing, or sip alongside shortribs braised with mushrooms and herbs.Tasted: 07 November 2019Tasted by: DJ KearneyPrices:
