Catena Malbec High Mountain Vines 2017

Mendoza, ArgentinaBig, ripe, and bold, but with a welcome freshness, thanks to the altitude of the three mountain estate vineyards ranging from 920-1450m. Post ferment, this spends a year in new, second, and third use barrels. This swirls with rich, ripe blackberry, potent cassis, toasty oak, and peppercorns. Tannins are ample and sticky, drawing this to the warming clove-scented finish. Bigger and riper than the last time I tasted it, this requires grilled meats or mushrooms to meet.Tasted: 10 July 2020Tasted by: Prices:
