Antinori Pian delle Vigne Brunello di Montalcino 2014

Montalcino, Siena, Tuscany, ItalyPian comes off one of the warmest sites in Brunello. In most years this is a blessing, and the wine is consistently ripe. The nose is open and friendly with a mix of rich black fruits, faintly stewed. Pian delle Vigne is quietly aged in 3000 to 8000-litre oak casks, long free from any oak influence, to promote a pure fruit red wine. The mid-palate is all black cherry, plums and licorice with soft, dense, fine-grained tannins. Drink 2022-2027 and beyond. It has a magnetic quality that will attract plenty of attention.
