Telmo Rodriguez Falcoeria A Capilla Single Vineyard 2015
Valdeorras, Galicia, SpainThis was my first look at this field blend of ancient varieties from a vineyard the locals hold in respect, that Telmo and the team have brought back to life. The mix is mencia, brancellao, sousón, garnacha and others. Triumphantly mineral with rooty black licorice, crushed red berries, and that high desert, dried menthol, scrubby, herby note that can permeate the finish. It is an astonishingly natural wine that has been made respectfully to expose its origin in all its glory. Drink or hold forever.
