Natte Valley Cinsault 2017

Coastal Region, South AfricaHaunting crushed roses, dried raspberry, savoury salts open this cinsault, from the Cape's cinsault-seeker, Alex Milman. Young winemaker Milner suddenly became very cinsault-centric when a professor told him not to bother reading the cinsault chapter in his textbook because it would be worthless to him. Fast forward from that 2011 conversation to today, and The Natte Valleij Cinsault Collective. Alex set out to find forgotten patches of old dryland bush vine cinsault across the Western Cape, expressing their individualities through low-interference winemaking. This is his collective bottling from various sites, showcasing the grape and greater Cape. The florals and raspberry continue on the palate, joined with just-tilled earth, light cinnamon bark, rooibos tea, worn leather, and fine peppery spicing. Tannins are fine, long, and soft, and acidity is bright and shining. Cinsault is such a lovely grape, when treated kindly, like this. Enjoy with a chill. A welcome 13 degrees. #GoGoCinsault.Tasted: 08 September 2019Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
