AustraliaThis aglianico is from the alluvial red clays of McLaren Vale's Leask Vineyard. After this late ripener was destemmed and underwent an extended maceration on skins over fermentation, it rested for 3 years in oak prior to bottling. Deep and lusty on the nose, with potent perfumed cassis, ripe blackcurrant, dense leather, and perfumed rose, with swings of VA and darts of tar. Tannins are sticky and velveteen, lashed with the massive wood reflective of its time in oak.
