Upper Bench Chardonnay 2017

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThe UB chardonnay is aged in a 50/50 mix of French oak barrels and stainless steel tanks for three months. 2017 is the best one yet from my perspective, starting with an inviting leesy, nutty nose and a touch of melon. There is a Naramata liveliness in the front end that suggests the barrel management is being fine-tuned to allow the bright apricot, pear and guava flecked fruit to shine through. The finish is equally fresh with a twist of sea salt and minerality. Impressive and food-friendly. As we said last year this is an excellent example of why Naramata may be the Okanagan chardonnay sweet zone.Tasted: 26 June 2019Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
