Nielson Chardonnay 2018

Santa Barbara County, Central Coast, California, United StatesNielson by Byron is the next iteration of Byron Wine, intended to honour the area’s first true pioneer, Uriel Nielson. The vines were replanted in 2001, featuring cuttings from the original “Wente” clone planted 1964. The harvest is a mix of select clusters with a combination of berry sizes, combining rich stone fruit with firm acidity and underlying minerality. Much like every year, the wine bursts out of the glass with tight, crisp, tropical fruit sporting streaks of orange, mineral, lees and intense peach. It is an exquisite style to sip, but it is even better with spicy, savoury chicken or sushi. This Santa Maria Valley chardonnay spends 16 months in French oak, of which 45 percent is new.Tasted: 24 June 2019Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
