JoieFarm Quotidien Brut 2018

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaQuotidien translates as daily ration, and references Joie's joie-de-vivre for drinking fizz, liberally. It is a mix of 70/30 riesling/chardonnay, the former from Naramata's Paxon Family Vineyards, and the latter from Skaha Bluff's Con Vida Vineyard. The blend was aged in neutral puncheons on the lees over the winter, before getting a hit of a solera riesling that has been maturing without sulphur. A pied de cuve Champagne yeast and bump of sugar kicked off a second ferment in the charmat tank. It was bottled with zero dosage. The vinification, extended wood ageing, and addition of solera gives it a richness beyond the normal charmat method. Lemon, pear, toasted meringue, apple brioche is all kept snappy and lemon pith tight with the zero dosage.Tasted: 18 June 2019Tasted by: Prices:
