JoieFarm En Famille Reserve Chardonnay 2017

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThe En Famille Reserve is one of two chardonnays JoieFarm releases each year, this one comprised of their special old vine block of Skaha Bluff's Con Vida Vineyard, as well as fruit from their Plain de Vine vineyard on the Naramata Bench. This was partially native fermented in Bourgogne barrels and puncheons, 30 percent new, which is certainly felt. This remained in wood for ten months with regular battonage, and then a further nine months in bottle prior to release. Vanilla permeates the whole, the floral blossoms reflecting the fact this is chardonnay musqué. Lemon curd, green apple, lime pith, roasted hazelnuts is a bit overwhelmed by the warming wood omnipresent at this young stage. Best enjoyed now with corn risotto to match the richness.Tasted: 21 June 2019Tasted by: Prices:
