Jean-Luc Colombo Cornas Les Terres Brulées 2016

Cornas, Northern Rhone, Rhone Valley, FranceThe Terres Brûlées, or burnt earth cuvée, is a nod to the origin of the village of Cornas. The appellation was created in 1938 and has remained the spiritual homes of syrah ever since. The Colombo blend involves twenty separate blocks of vines. It sets itself apart from anything made in the New World with a jolt of electricity that runs through the entire wine. Floral scented coffee beans mix with white pepper, black currants, liquorice, and stony minerality, making a complex red that is very food-friendly. We tried it with barbecue pork, and the match was divine. A classic Cornas that will age effortlessly for a decade and requires a hardy meal. Impressive.Tasted: 22 March 2020Tasted by: Prices:
