Gérard Bertrand La Forge 2016

Corbières, Languedoc, Sud de France, France100-year-old carignan vines are at the heart of this syrah/carignan blend, along with crazy low yields of 25hl/ha that assure full ripeness and power. Most of the grapes are vinified separately by carbonic maceration and aged 12 months in new oak barrels. La Forge is a blockbuster with rich, savoury, peppery aromas flecked with vanilla, blackberry, and meaty, licorice garrigue aromas. The attack is juicy with well-managed tannins and more meaty, licorice, chocolate, plum flavours. Surprisingly stylish on the palate. La Forge is a four-hectare site located on the estate Domaine de Villemajou in the heart of the Boutenac appellation in the Corbières region, where the vines seem to live forever.Tasted: 23 April 2019Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
