Rieslingfreak No. 6 Clare Valley Aged Release Riesling 2013

Clare Valley, South Australia, AustraliaThe deeper hue stands No 6 out in a lineup of Rieslingfreak's individual rieslings. Indeed, this is a current 2013 Aged Release Riesling, from John Hughes' family Clare Valley estate. Intense honeysuckle and rubber rule the nose and linger on the palate, joined by a cast of characters including ripe pear, green apple, crystal ginger, whiffs of petrol and hints of heady brown butter. This dry Clare riesling (same as Hughes' No. 3) was aged five years prior to release, the additional lag time adding depth and shoulders to an already very impressive wine. A fantastic grippy, near toothsome texture hems the light palate, one that clocks in mightier than its 11.6 degree frame may suggest. A lovely opportunity to taste Clare with some age.Tasted: 07 February 2019Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
