McManis Family Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon 2016

California, United StatesShowing deep cherry colour with a fuchsia rim, a quick swirl releases a blast of fruit. Take note of cassis, the black olive savoury angle, and a clear sweet, herby, menthol lift that is a Cali signature. Background hints of leather and earth add to the fun. Ripeness defines the palate, with plums, dried blueberry, dark chocolate, and mocha. Fruit drenched and fruit-forward, it's a mid-weight, value-priced cab with moderate tannins, and plenty of sweet coconut oak. A little spice and eucalyptus mark the finish. McManis are long-time farmers in the Central Valley of California, in both Lodi and the River Junction AVA (which they pioneered) and sold their fruit to other big brands before bottling the fruits of their labours.Tasted: 23 August 2019Tasted by: Prices:
