Bannockburn De La Terre Pinot Noir 2013

Geelong, Victoria, AustraliaDe La Terre - of the earth - is an estate plot selection of clones 114 and 777, on volcanic topsoils, mixed clay and sands over limestones. This high density planting on an east facing slope was inspired by Burgundy. Earthy it most certainly is, with mossy forest, mushroom and tomato plant notes that infiltrate the whole of this concentrated, medium bodied red. Stewed plums, dried roses, five spice, bay leaves and sapid thorns float atop, housed by iron-dusted, lightly sticky and very lengthy tannins. Perhaps its the age of this wine, but I'm missing the freshness this Geelong pinot so rightfully deserves. This was whole bunch pressed and aged in hogshead barrels for 20 months before bottling unfined and unfiltered.Tasted: 26 January 2019Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
