Mission Hill Reserve Pinot Noir 2017

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaIt's been a good while since I've tasted the Reserve Pinot Noir from Mission Hill, the last vintage being the 2013. A lot has changed in four years, chiefly Darryl Brooker being now in charge of operations of the winery group, and the most welcome move. The reserve tier sources from the top 15 percent of estate vineyards, with an impressive 75 percent return rate to site year over year. This vintage sees 77 percent from estate vineyards in Lakeshore, and the remainder from Naramata, all with 11 months in French oak. Tight, lean and punchy, with cranberry / pomegranate on a strident frame, one with smoothed, smoked, cedar tannins. There's a pinch of bitter red fruit and balsamic on the finish that makes this wine preferred with oil / fat to flush out.Tasted: 17 December 2018Tasted by: Treve RingPrices: BC 28.00 specialty listing AB 26.00 private wine shops ON 25.00 Vintages QC 26.00 MB 28.00 Producer: Mission Hill Family EstateDistributors: Mark Anthony Wines and Spirits
