Painted Rock Malbec 2016

Skaha Bench, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaHow surprised was I to fine this charming little malbec my favourite of the Painted Rock portfolio? Perhaps because it is a little quirky, a small lot (most of their malbec is poured into Red Icon), and under made, compared with some of their other, highly crafted and cellar-intended wines. Lovely generosity and freshness here, with crushed blueberry, dusky plum, and brisk spicing, framing this bigger red. The 18 months in French oak (30 percent new) is gobbled up by the potent, pure, blue fruit. Youthful, tight, and smart, this is worth seeking out. 210 cases made.Tasted: 19 October 2018Tasted by: Prices:
