Catena Zapata Adrianna Vineyard White Stones Vino de Parcela Chardonnay 2015

Gualtallary, Tupungato, Valle de Uco, Tunuyán, Central Region, Mendoza, ArgentinaWhite Stones comes from a highly select 27 rows within Block 1 of the Adrianna Vineyard. Under those vines is a gravel field of oval white stones. There’s not a lot of soil at 1450 metres above sea level in the Gualtallary sub-district of Uco Valley's Tupungato region. Poor shallow soils, not a lot of rain, cool nights, warm days, well, you get the picture: heaven for grapevines. It’s all chardonnay that is cold settled for half a day in stainless steel tanks before fermentation in French oak barrels for anywhere from 45 to 95 days. Battonage and partial malolactic see it through 12-16 months in 2nd, 3rd and 4th use French puncheons. The minerality is off the charts but it comes with a creamy palate and bright acidity, and a mix of quince, clover, honey, salt and minty sagebrush. Impressive world-class chardonnay from Argentina.Tasted: 11 October 2018Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
