Blue Mountain Pinot Gris 2017

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThey have this recipe dialled, creating a dependable and reliable white year over year. This year's gris is from 31-year-old vines and two French clones, grown on their Okanagan Falls estate. No big changes here although it seems riper if not sweeter than perversions which will likely only increase demand. Whole cluster pressed, this was fermented in a blend of stainless, foudre and oak barrels of varying sizes. The barrelled wine spent six months on the lees, while the stainless wine (39 percent) was racked after fermentation. The two were blended in early summer, and now released. Lovely polish and elegance to the palate, with creamy pear, lemon, green apple, kisses of orange and a bracket of tight spicing. Confident, quietly so, this is drinking well now but will deepen and reward for another couple of years in the cellar.Tasted: 02 October 2018Tasted by: Treve Ring & Anthony GismondiPrices:
