Black Hills Ipso Facto 2016

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThis new release is a syrah based blend (60 percent), joined by merlot and cabernet sauvignon, sourced from Black Hills' vineyards in the Southern Okanagan. Bigger and broodier than its 13 degrees declared, this concentrated wine pulls charcoal, blackberry, sweet black plums, thorns, violets and cracked peppercorn along a plump palate. Tannins are tuggy and ample, reflective of 15 months in oak (10 percent American and the remainder French), one third of which was new. There's a greenness here which brings some freshness, but also stands out like aforementioned thorns, and especially at this tender age. Best with venison or fire grilled peppers.Tasted: 29 October 2018Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
