Marche, ItalyWe love verdicchio in a general sense but when I see one under screwcap, well it's hard to resist. Cardboard free and ready to sing this Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi is a perfect example of the genre from its straw yellow colour to its bright, fresh, floral nose. The palate is vaguely herbal with a mix of stony, fresh orchard and yellow fruits flecked with green figs and citrus. Taut enough to work with food but rich enough to take on most flavours it’s a dinner table winner. Chill, twist, and serve with a favourite vegetarian dish or local shellfish.
