Descendientes de J. Palacios Villa de Corullon 2015

Bierzo, Castilla-Leon, SpainDescendientes de Palacios is a joint venture between Alvaro Palacios and his nephew Ricardo Perez. Together the curious perfectionists make seven wines, including this very stylish Corullon, named after the main village surrounded by the grapes that make up the wine. At 20,100 bottles, production is minuscule, while worldwide demand is gigantic. The blend is 89/9/2 mencía, indigenous white grapes and other red grapes coming off three 50-100-year-old vineyards in six villages. The wine is mostly red fruited, very fresh, texturally inviting, mineral and packed full of stony, crunchy, chalky fruit that is raised organically and soon biodynamically. A real wine of substance that should age effortlessly. The New Spain is Old and we like it a lot.Tasted: 22 March 2018Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
