CedarCreek Platinum Desert Ridge Single Vineyard Merlot 2014
Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaTobacco alluringly infiltrates this deep, black cherry and inky plum merlot from Desert Ridge Vineyard in Osoyoos. You can feel the desert heat as this inches across the palate, thick with sun-ripened merlot skins. Red fruits creep in: red currant, raspberry jam, bitter cherry, all of which are pinned with sticky tannins, studded with dusty gravels, and structured by the 20 months in French oak. Downy violet leaves on the finish are bested by that tobacco note and warmed with alcohol.
