Rocca delle Macie Campomaccione Morellino di Scansano 2016

Morellino di Scansano, Maremma, Tuscany, ItalyThe Zingarelli project in Morellino di Scansano is based at the Campomaccione estate in Tuscany’s Grosseto province. The family bought the 198-acre property in 1998 and followed that in 2003 with the purchase of 166-acre Casa Maria estate. In local dialect, sangiovese has long been called “morellino,” a reference to “Morello,” a breed of horse formerly used to work on farms. It said the farmers liken the wine's dark colour to the coats of the Morello horses. The blend is 90/10 morellino/cabernet sauvignon. Expect an enticing fragrant nose, with fine concentration of aromas and flavours seemingly bolstered by the cabernet. It will surprise with its stony, mineral notes and warm Mediterranean ripe fruit flavours. Impressive. Try with both roasted and barbecued red meats.Tasted: 01 February 2018Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
