Charles Fox Cuvée Elgin Vintage Brut Method Cap Classique 2013
South AfricaCharles and Zelda Fox purchased Elgin's Furneaux Farms in 2005, founding Charles Fox MCC, a sparkling house. They own and organically farm six hectares of pinot noir, chardonnay and pinot meunier, the latter lesser seen in RSA. This is (barely) meunier dominant, along with chardonnay and pinot noir, and after blending together spends three years on the lees. Roasted chestnuts, toasted brioche and cider apple fill the generous palate, with a scratching of stones and a swell of red apple juiciness.
