Laughing Stock Vineyards Portfolio +10/09 2015

Naramata Bench, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaRipe, full, polished, perfumed, and impressively so, the 2015 Portfolio has buy written all over it. Well, not literally. The ticker tape label shares the Bordeaux blend, and reflects the uniqueness of each vintage. Here merlot, cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc, malbec and petit verdot, sourced from the Naramata Bench and Osoyoos, were fermented in a blend of stainless and oak before spending twenty months in French oak (40 percent new). Everything about this is powerful without being overt: the perfumed and wild black fruit, the gentle smoke, the subtle grilled meats, the minty cassis, the rafting cracked black pepper, to the alluring vanilla pod on the lengthy finish. Tannins are appropriately grippy, harnessing but not overwhelming the fruit, and the acidity carries the sun-ripened weight of this age-worthy red. The top Portfolio to date.Tasted: 07 December 2017Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
