Fort Berens Red Gold 2015

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThis is Fort Berens' premium red, gilt with the "Gold" title, and blended from their top lots of cabernet franc, cabernet sauvignon and merlot, and across vineyards in Similkameen, Osoyoos, Black Sage Bench and their own estate vineyards in Lillooet. Almost one third of this was apassimento cabernet franc, with grapes air-dried for one month for extra concentration and density. The blend certainly has density, with a flush of sun-ripened red and black fruit, pipe tobacco, cherries and thorns on a plush, cushioned palate. Tannins are soft, red and purple florals float throughout, and a fine dusting of pepper and anise on the finish. This is a big wine, nearly 16 percent, but it feels much lighter (at least for the first glass).Tasted: 11 December 2017Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
