Fontanafredda Briccotondo Barbera 2015

Piedmont, ItalyThis is a fun little red wine that has been a consistent performer over the years. A barbera, from the hillsides of Langhe and Monferrato, it’s a touch meaty or perhaps reductive under screwcap but it recovers quickly with a wealth of black cherry, anise and black raspberry fruit over a ridge of bright acidity and mostly silky tannins. It spends about six months in oak barrels and Slavonian casks to add a touch of weight and texture. This will age but it’s ready to drink too. Best with mushroom dishes or pork/wild boar pappardelle. Good value.Tasted: 18 December 2017Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
