Haywire Switchback Organic Vineyard Pinot Gris 2016
Summerland Bench, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThis is the pinnacle OCP gris grown at the home Switchback Vineyard in Summerland. The 11-year-old clone 52 vines sit on an east / southeast facing slope of calcium carbonate-laced, gravelly soils. This was the vision of Chris Coletta, David Scholefield, Pedro Parra and Alberto Antonini, and the picture is now crystal clear. Weight and power with finesse, cloaked in savoury quince, pear skin and musk melon, all certified organic. The fruit is fermented on native yeasts and is aged in concrete for ten months on gross lees. A wine so distinctive it outruns its grape variety, displaying only flavours of place.
