Beamsville Bench, Niagara Peninsula, Ontario, CanadaTight and nervy green apple, crab apple and lemon sherbet in this slate-licked, small-lot, single vineyard riesling from Thirty Bench (they also make the similarly small Steel Post Vineyard Riesling). Wood Post is located next to the Beamsville Bench winery, and is the winery's youngest vines, planted in 1984. The slaty form continues, drawing petrol, apple skin and ample mineral salts to a savoury, tingling finish. A thin pillow of honey on the palate is perfectly situated to comfort the tension.
