Oliver Twist Estate Syrah 2013
CanadaOliver Twist winemaker Gina Harfman gave this property something to hang its hat on: syrah. The style is very northern Rhone, from its peppery spicy nose to a fresh, savoury, mid palate where the acidity does a great job of tackling the warm, tarry fruit, keeping it all fresh. It spends 12 months in French and American oak barrels and is bottled unfiltered. Good effort. Next time it might be even more fruitful to go all French oak.
