Culmina Family Estate En Coteaux Riesling No. 003 2016

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaCulmina offers up a succession of one-off wines they are calling the Number Series to showcase “the best of our research and development from any given vintage.” Up third is Nº 003 'En Coteaux Riesling', an opulent offering off the Golden Mile Bench Stan’s Vineyard, a riesling that engulfs the palate from front to back. Ripe apples, juicy sweet oranges with a dusting of stony minerality mark the palate that finishes just a touch short. In a nutshell, after many twist and turns, 2016 allowed for “excellent ripeness and optimal acid balance in all varieties” at Culmina. This riesling, Alsace Clone 49, bursts with freshness and sweetness at 39 grams of residual sugar. The Triggs are food freaks when they are not busy making wine so when they say this wine goes with apple wood smoked foie gras with rosemary rubbed Road 9 Baguette crostini; or traditional raclette with new season tarragon potatoes, you should heed their advice.Tasted: 13 October 2017Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
