Bachelder Pinot Noir 2014

Willamette Valley, Oregon, United StatesThomas Bachelder buys fruit a la négociant style from various sites in the Willamette, growing on both sedimentary sandstone and volcanic soils. Although he is the ultimate terrorist, he has a style, albeit one of non-intervention and elegance. The fruit is dark and savoury, the length long but still graceful (or, still Bachelder). The 2014 vintage was one of the earliest and largest ever for Willamette pinot. Large yields seem not to have detracted from the richness of this classic mineral, spicy, powerful Oregon pinot, seemingly with time on hand. This is made at the Carlton Winemakers Studio, a collective of like-minded garagistes sourcing Willamette fruit. Duck confit and mushrooms anyone?Tasted: 10 October 2017Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
