Mt. Boucherie Meritage 2012

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaWe were surprised (and a little reticent) to see the 2012 vintage of Meritage as a current release from Mt. Boucherie. Where has it been hiding. The blend of Similkameen and Okanagan Valley fruit, and 74/26 cabernet sauvignon / cabernet franc was aged 30 months in French oak. The attack is rich and full with dried blackberry, kirsch, with port-like plums, leather, clove and nutmeg spices. Tannins are full measure through its drying, hot finish. Too much power and flavour at this point, but could be brought under control with a piece of roast beef or lamb.Tasted: 07 July 2017Tasted by: Treve Ring & Anthony GismondiPrices:
