Osoyoos, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThe inaugural release of Espressivo is this 2014 and it’s a hit. Like Fortissimo, it is a Tuscan-inspired blend, but in this case the lead merlot is replaced with cabernet sauvignon and cabernet franc – something you note immediately on the nose. Again, large format French puncheons and Hungarian/Slavonian oak help to let the fruit shine: 20 percent new, 40 percent second fill with the balance in neutral barrels. The fruit is darker with a savoury, fragrant, leafy entrance marked with south Okanagan dried herbs and spice. Love the juicy rich palate and lively fruit. It’s warm but if you like your reds big and spicy this fits the bill. The blend is 55/20/20/5 cabernet franc, cabernet sauvignon, merlot and sangiovese, all from North Oliver, Golden Mile and Osoyoos Lake District. Steak anyone?Tasted: 28 July 2017Tasted by: Prices:
