Kitten Swish Mouth Flowers 2012

Alexander Valley, Sonoma County, California, United StatesAnise, ink, potent and driving blueberry, with a sheen of ash, graphite and a pure core of plum, this single vineyard Alexander Valley cab is showing its age, gracefully. Blackcurrant piquancy and cassis duskiness fills the mid palate, while tuggy tannins lead this out to the nutmeg and clove finish. One of nano-negoc Brad Royale's creations for his Kitten Swish label, this took inspiration from a Timothy Leary poem, titled "Mouth Flowers" (and this, as all of the Kitten Swish labels, is one that Royale designed himself). From three blocks of Stulmuller Vineyard, across gravel, silt beds and volcanic soils, this was aged in French and American oak, 40 percent new. Decant or open a day in advance at this young stage, not because of tannins, but to let this wine exhale. 50 cases made.Tasted: 31 July 2017Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
