A.D. Beckham MMXV Amphora Grenache 2015

Rogue Valley, Oregon, United StatesWinemaker Andrew Beckham is also a talented ceramicist, and his A.D. Beckham wines are fermented and aged in terra cotta vessels he made on his family's Chehalem Mountain estate. Bottled unfined and unfiltered, this throws a slightly cloudy hue. This grenache was sourced from Southern Oregon's Rogue Valley, was wild fermented in Andrew's amphora, with half aged in his vessels and the remainder aged in ten year old barrel. Sunripened sweet strawberry, cherry jam, raspberry is lifted with a bright swell of acidity and lined with a very fine slick of thorny resin and dusty stone. A subtle grippiness to the tannins hint to the use of amphora, a welcome temperance to grenache's natural abundance.Tasted: 13 July 2017Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
