Yalumba Cabernet Sauvignon/Shiraz The Signature Robert Hill-Smith 2012

Barossa Valley, South Australia, AustraliaPerhaps the individual who contributed the most to Yalumba's culture and tradition is family member and former CEO, Robert Hill Smith. Robert's name was attached to this magnificent 2012 vintage. I tasted this wine in 2016 and thought it was special, but its development is even more than I could have imagined. Like Robert, this wine is a giant and should last well into the middle of the century, if not beyond. The nose is now entirely resolved and so attractive you want to smell this wine forever, but unfortunately, everyone else will be drinking it. The savoury cedar aromatic notes are perfection. Long and silky, the fruit has become endlessly expansive and mixes effortlessly with oak, now only a background note. A delicious, free-flowing, elegant wine, this is Barossa at its best. My wrap-up has no change: it is an impressive take on the classic blend, and one of the best from Yalumba.Tasted: 16 October 2022Tasted by: Prices:
