Rock Wall Wine Co. Zinfandel Jesse's Vineyard 2012

Contra Costa, Central Coast, California, United StatesJessie's Vineyard is one hundred percent Contra Costa County zinfandel at a hefty 16.1 percent alcohol. The wine comes off Duarte Vineyard but is named after the Jesse the 93 year old who still farms the 124 year old Zinfandel vines. Apparently Jesse asked the Rosenblum family not to put his name on the label unless 'it's the good stuff' - well it's pretty good. Four truckloads, 43 lots crushed separately and fermented in quarters with four different yeasts. The wine spends 21 months in 70 neutral oak French and American with 30 percent new 20/10 French and American oak. The wine is a delight to sip. The textures super rich and silky, yes warm but with plenty of spicy blueberry/brambleberry, pipe tobacco flavours. Zinfandel from another time. Try this with paella, or roast lamb. Good value too.Tasted: 19 October 2014Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:
