Badia a Coltibuono Vin Santo del Chianti 2006

Tuscany, ItalyOddly the only wine listed in BC from Coltibuono is the Vin Santo. The fruit is grown on clay limestone soils and the vines are 10 to 30 years old. The grape mix is trebbiano/malvasia. Typically the fruit is picked and dried then fermented and left in small, sealed oak casks to further age exposed to the vagaries of seasonal temperatures. The nose is a mix of honey and almonds with a dusting of vanilla. The attack is similar with orange and rancio nutty notes with bits of spice and ginger. A late night sipper you won't be able to resist. This will age forever. Tasted: 05 September 2014Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:
