Tinhorn Creek Oldfield Reserve Chardonnay 2016

Golden Mile Bench, Oliver, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThis rich, ripe wine is full of sun-sweetened orchard fruits : pear, apple, along with candied tropical notes of pineapple and mango. Round and cushy, the palate is awash with spicy oak, which drags down rather than frames the southern Okanagan fruit. This is a lot of winemaking affect: whole-cluster pressed directly to barrel for fermentation in new, one-year-old and neutral French oak barrels with minimal sulphur added. Post ferment the barrels were topped then were left alone for MLF before the spring blending, after which the final cuvee was aged 50/50 between oak and stainless for 17 months. More reminiscent of old school Cali than new-wave BC.Tasted: 22 October 2018Tasted by: Prices:
